Dear shirley I met you at the arbors over 3 years ago and became fast friends with you and sweet ellie. We visited often when the dr said you needed to gain weight I brought you dinner until you could have your surgery. You always had a smile for me and Harley she loved coming to your house. When I moved to the reserve and learned how the rent was based on income I had to get you here it took 2 months but I did it and you told me many times even the week before u left us that u loved it here. I miss my friend every time I walk by your apartment I had my sad day missing you and she'd a tear but I know you would not want that you would want joy you always had a smile and a laugh my sweet friend until we meet again

Shirley [as Hayes] was a fellow worker at Alcon Laboratories. We overlapped for many years [me: 1970-2009]. I first knew that Shirley was special during the funeral of her son, Randy. She carried that grief the rest of her life, but always had a smile at Alcon. She helped me put together a few of the Alcon R&D Christmas Parties that I was in charge of and I have posted one of the pictures from that event. I think it captures her spirit. She was such a good sport about all my foolishness in preparing for a humorous presentation at the Christmas party. Shirley was a good lady and I remember her fondly. Prayers to all her family.
