

BEDFORD -- It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Steve Vloitos, who passed away on January 22th, 2015 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital with his children at his side. Steve was born in Fort Worth, Texas, August 12, 1926. He was the son of Nick and Katie (Hatzillias) Vloitos.
Steve was a Navy veteran honorably discharged on June 23, 1946, after serving his country during WWII. He later received his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Houston and went on to live most of his life in Bedford, Texas. An accomplished oilman and President/Owner of Embassy Oil Company, he loved the thrill of the next big exploration. He was an active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Fort Worth, all of his life. He was an altar boy as a child and a past president of the congregation where he was instrumental in starting the first annual church bake sale, now known as The Greek Food Festival. It remains the major fund-raising effort for the church.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Van) Laborde, Jeanette (Adam) Teckman, Nick (Rayanna) Vloitos and Valerie (Jimmy) Manolis; his granddaughters, Leah, Hannah, Megan, Madison and Chloe, his sister Mary Galanis, his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his brothers Gus (Stella) Barakis Sr. and Rocky (Nicki) Barakis.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2020 Northwest 21st Street, Fort Worth, TX 76164. Visitation and Trisagion service will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Shannon Funeral Chapel, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76148. Steve was a loving and devoted father. He was known for his quick- witted humor as well as his kind and gentle heart. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
