DeaconThomas Dixon was born to the parentage of Limuel Dixon Sr. and Louise Dixon in Fort Worth, Texas on June 1, 1966. He was the baby of 6 children. Thomas attended Fort Worth ISD, where he graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1984. There he played baseball, basketball, tennis and was a part of the drama club where he portrayed “The Lion” in the stage play The Wiz.
Thomas also attended TCJC in 1985 where he met the love of his life, Sharon Denise Rudd. They knew it was fate when they found out they lived around the corner from each other their entire lives, and attended Poly together but yet did not run into each other until that moment at TCJC. It was then they learned they had so many things in common including music, food, clothes, movies and their love for Jesus Christ. Their first date was a revival at his church, Mt Ephraim Baptist Church, that he attended at the time. There she met his entire family and learned quickly he had a solid Christian foundation.
Thomas and Sharon’s love blossomed and the two united in Holy Matrimony on December 7, 1991 at New Mt Carmel Baptist Church under the officiation of Rev. R.A. Toliver. They shared 36 loving years together. Their union was blessed with 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
As a young man, Thomas worked at Baylor All Saints and the Fort Worth State School where he gained lifelong friendships. It wasn’t until 1995, when the State School closed down, that he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a barber and enrolled in Williams Barber College. He worked at a few shops until he found his perfect fit at Jazzy Cuts Barbershop on Evans Avenue. There he developed deep rooted relationships with Tracy Turner and Julian Dean Watkins which made them more than friends, they were family. His loving and fun personality pierced the hearts of many people within the community inside and outside of the shop. It was a place full of constant laughter and love and the three of them made it more than a barbershop; it was a place of refuge.
Thomas was a born again, baptized believer in Jesus Christ and he served Him well. He united with the New Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. A. Toliver in 1991. It was there at New Mt. Carmel, where Thomas became an ordained deacon and chairman of the deacon board. He had the chance to baptize his two daughters and was also a part of the male choir, volunteered in the community (including going out of state to help families during Hurricane Katrina), and worked security within the church. People always recognized him for his great sense of fashion with his sharp suit combinations, shoes and accessories. He remained a faithful member, even while his health was challenged.
Thomas was a devoted vessel that truly had a heart for the Lord, even unto his death on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was surrounded by his wife, his children and loving family. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Limuel Dixon Sr. & Louise Dixon; and brothers, Doward Johnson & Richard Dixon.
Left to cherish his memories are: his beloved wife of 29 years, Sharon Dixon; children, Patrick Dixon, Maurio Dixon, Kolbi Dixon, and Paige Dixon; brothers, Limuel Dixon Jr. and wife Linda, Clarence Dixon; sister, Marion Dixon; 3 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and special friends.
