March 18, 1927 – April 28, 2021
Valencia Roberson Bernard of Fort Worth, TX passed away on Wednesday April 28, 2021. Valencia was born March 18, 1927 to F.M. and Cecile Roberson. She was raised in Fort Worth by her grandmother and graduated from R.L. Paschal High School. Fort Worth was where she lovingly raised her three children. Valencia acted as surrogate mother to her co-workers and her children’s friends, many who affectionately called her Mama B. Her home was where friends gathered to visit and drink her famous sweet tea. Even when her children’s friends were grown they would come to visit and bring their families. Valencia had a love of children, birds and butterflies. Before becoming ill she liked to spend time outdoors planting bushes to attract butterflies and filling bird feeders with her best friend Laverne and daughter Janice. Valencia is preceded in death by her son William Thomas Bernard and son-in-law Ronald Kelley. She is survived by her daughter Janice Kelley and grandsons Brandon and Kristofor Kelley, daughter Karen Bernard and her husband Edward Lowe and brother Frank Roberson of Irving. The family wishes to thank the employees of Stonegate Nursing and Rehabilitation for her care during the last years of her life. We also wish to thank her personal caregivers Sharonda Smith and Chonqualia Kerr for helping with her care during the Covid crisis.
