Velma Leona Howell Howard, 100, of Fort Worth, TX, passed peacefully into our Lord’s arms at her home on September 29, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 4 at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX 76134 with longtime family friend, Jim Ekrut, officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Wilbur.
Velma Howard was born in Lone Grove, OK to Blaine and Leila Howell on March 12, 1919. She married Wilbur Livingston Howard on September 7, 1949, at College Avenue Baptist Church. She never worked a day in her life, considering caring for children has always brought her such joy. She loved traveling, has visited all over the world, and has photo albums to prove it. Baseball, especially the Texas Rangers, was a lifelong love. Visits with family and friends were her favorite pastime.
Velma is preceded in death by husband, Wilbur Howard; daughter, Vicki Jean Grable; and several brothers and sisters.
Velma is survived by son, Jerry Paul Howard; son-in-law, Bill Grable; brother, Boyd and Francis Howell; brother, Royce Howell; granddaughter, Darbi and Michael Jilek; granddaughter, Katelin and Beau Scogin; grandsons, Shane and Jonathan Grable; great-grandchildren: Noah Andrew Jilek, Levi Matthew Jilek, Elijah James Scogin, Seth Michael Jilek, Aubrey Reese Scogin, and Ty Henry Scogin.

I will forever remember Mrs. Howard for being a loving and caring person. She helped care for my daughters and later my grandson at Ridglea West Baptist Child Care Center. We have remained friends and kept in touch for over 45 yesrs. She was an awesome lady and will be missed by so many.
