Vernell Kanode

Nell was born February 28, 1937 in Justin Texas to the late Robert and Cecil Morgan. She was the youngest of three children. While working for Tri-County she met the love of her life Lenny Kanode who she wed on Sept 1st, 1972. Three years later she began working as a banker at North Texas Savings in Loan and after 35 years she retired as Branch Manager from Regions Bank in 2005 located in Keller, Texas.

Nell loved worshipping the Lord, praying for and with others, spending time with family, gardening, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her”.

Now that Nell has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Nell’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. Nell joins Lenny Kanode (Husband), Cecil E. Morgan (Mother), Robert Lee Morgan (Father), Lois Long (MIL), Matt Long (FIL), Azell Vandergriff (Sister), and George Morgan (Brother) in Heaven. She is survived by her four children, Brenda (Dale) Ensley, Lance Kanode, Venus (Clarence) Steele and Melissa Kanode; and her eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, Jacob (Clarissa), Kelsey, Rachel (Mark), Kaytlin, Courtney and Isaac (Autumn); and eight great grandchildren, Kaylynn, Mason, Blakeleigh, Elena, Jace, Liam, Caroline Jo, and Randall.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Alevcare for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7th from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at Shannon Funeral Home (6001 Rufe Snow Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76148). Memorial services will be held at House of Grace Church (7850 Davis Blvd, North Richland Hills, TX 76182) Wednesday, November 8th at 10:00am followed by burial at Bourland Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization Nell and Lenny were deeply passionate about and supported throughout their life.
