

Vernona Ann Robertson went to her heavenly home on Mother's Day May 14th, 2023. She was born to James Albert Sanders and Ollie Lee McMillan Sanders on March 9, 1942 in McAlester, OK. She graduated from Holdenville High School class of 1960 and immediately went to work and retired from Southwestern Bell.
Vernona married Dyril Wayne Robertson and they moved to Fayetteville, Ark. They moved back to Oklahoma and made Moore, OK their home adding two daughters to their family. After retiring from Southwestern Bell, she went to work for BE SEW INN where she taught classes and enjoyed her job very much."Nonie” was an excellent seamstress, embroidery, and quilter, grew beautiful African Violets, and enjoyed her time fishing at Lake Eufaula. Vernona was a strong woman who survived the Moore tornado, the death of her husband, and her daughter and son-in-law Teresa Kay and Mike Butler who both passed away too soon.
Survivors including her sister Marcia Harkey-Buck, Harrah, OK; Godchildren, Blair and Cheryl Rossing, Hixson, TN and their children B.J. Rossing and children Brody and Katlyn Rossing, April Trent and her daughters Hanna and Taitum Trent; Grandsons Mason Spratt and Jordyn Embree Grandbury,Tx, Justin and Samantha Perry, Moore, OK great- grandchildren Jack and Logan Perry of Moore, OK: Nephews: Kevin and Nancy Harkey of Harrah, OK and their children Katie and Jeff Hare, Dalton and Samantha Harkey, Justin and Rebecca Harkey of Midwest City, OK children Carsten,Reegan and Gannon Harkey.
A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Grandbury Care Center in Grandbury, Texas for the excellent loving care that was given to Vernona over the last three years.
A family memorial service will be at a later date.
