Graveside Services: 10 a.m. Sunday at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 9 a.m. Sunday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
He was born on March 14, 1930 to Augustus and Anne Duvall in Abilene, Texas, but spent most of his life in Fort Worth, Houston, and Ouray, Colorado. After graduating from Texas A & M in 1953, he served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army for 3 years and worked for 34 years as a petroleum engineer at Texaco.
At the office he had a reputation for solving problems no one else could with his brilliant intellect and methodical nature, but at home he was soft spoken and a gentle patriarch to a family that adored him. What he held back in words he put into the many hobbies he excelled at, including carpentry, plumbing, roofing, electrical work, automotive repair, sailing, amateur aviation, making mischief, horticulture, sculpting, painting, playing the guitar, piano, and clarinet, making a pet of every wild animal within 10 square miles, and telling tales both tall and small.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Yvonne; children, Clayton, Karen, and Leslie; and 8 grandchildren, Patrick, Rebecca, Angelique, Brianna, Devon, Wesley, Victor, and Naomi.
His passing has left a void that can never be filled, but the memories he left behind will be treasured by all that were lucky enough to know him.
