She went to school at Booker T Washington in Sweetwater, TX. She met Lewis Standifer Gray in a cafe in Sweetwater, Texas, and then married him on December 23, 1965, in Sweetwater, TX. Lewis Gray was in the Air Force allowing Wanda to travel abroad to many places including California, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. During the time of traveling she birthed three beautiful children, James Gray, Micheal Gray, and Cassandra Miles. She worked as a cook at many different restaurants and schools for numerous years. After traveling abroad for many years Lewis and Wanda returned to Fort Worth, TX in 1988, where they made their residence their permanent home. Wanda will always be remembered as a loving, caring person who always went above and beyond for others. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays, as Christmas was her favorite holiday. Wanda Gray also enjoyed cooking and baking, creating memories with her family, and passing down her recipes to those in the kitchen.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Isaiah Monroe; mother, Virginia Booker, husband, Lewis S. Gray; sisters, Rose Franklin Mabel Monroe Hunter; and brother, Ben Monroe.
She is survived by her sons, James Gray and his wife, Stephanie L. Gray, Micheal Gray; daughter, Cassandra Miles; brothers, Farris Monroe, Kenneth Monroe, and Tommy Monroe; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
