

June Tidwell Johnson, 97, was born on June 29, 1929, to Beulah Emma Wood Tidwell and Claude Jefferson Tidwell in Fort Worth, Texas where she lived her entire life. She was a graduate of R. L. Paschal High School (class of '46) and graduated from Texas Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Music.
She was married to Hiram William "Bill" Johnson Jr. on August 18, 1950, at Matthews Memorial Methodist Church (now University United Methodist Church). They were blessed with three children, Bill, Jill and Jeff. Her early married life was spent raising her children. She started teaching Kindergarten at E. M. Daggett Elementary School where she taught for 20 years. After retiring she became a volunteer for several agencies around Fort Worth, but her true love was Cook Children's Hospital where she volunteered for 29 years until her health no longer permitted her to continue.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Bill, her sister, Mary Claudene Tidwell Hitt and her best friend since birth, Beverly Booker.
She is survived by her three children, Hiram William "Bill" Johnson, III (Susan) of Fort Worth, Jill Johnson Shafer (Brian) of Troy, Missouri, and Jefferson Andrew Johnson (Kristi) of Fort Worth. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matthew William Johnson of New York, Daniel Robert Johnson (Julie) of Houston, David Jefferson Johnson (Brianna) of Santa Barbara, California, Sarah Caroline Shafer of Troy, Missouri, Ryan Ezekiel Johnson, Alexandria June Johnson and David Michael Conard of Fort Worth. She was very proud to be the great-grandmother of Jasper William Johnson, Riley Kenney Johnson, Finley Rose Johnson and Asher Robert Johnson.
There will be a memorial service on September 4, 2026, at 11:00 at University United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Israel Kamudzandu and Rev. Beth Evers will officiate. Burial will be private.
