Willie V. Smith Greer was born December 19, 1932 in Karnack, Texas to the Parents of R.V. Smith and George Kennedy Sr. Upon her mother’s passing, at the age of 5 She was raised by her aunt and uncle Mary D. and T.P. Williams, She attended Lotta Church of Christ. At an early age: “Topp” as many called her, started working at an early age picking cotton and various other farming jobs. At age 15 she met Tommie Greer and a few years later they were united in Holy Matrimony April 1948. They moved to Dallas for a better life working together for their future. Later moving to Fort Worth. She began her long career in the Food industry. Starting at Stone’s Café, Topsy’s Café, then Striplings Dept. Store’s, Pink Rooster Restaurant. After Striplings closed she started at Monning’s Dept. Store Tea Room in Downtown Fort Worth for many years. After Monning’s closed she worked in various café’s until retirement. For many who knew her she would have open arms and open kitchen. Whether cooking for two or ten, you couldn’t leave her home without a full belly and possibly some money in your pocket. Having no children of their own, they were blessed with raising a baby boy, Keith L. Williams. They both loved and cherished him through adulthood. Having babysitted many other kids (you know who you are) her name later changed from Aunt Willie, Mrs. Willie to Granny Boo (Her Husband nick named her Boo) by her first granddaughter Kourtney L. Williams and later Kyiah l. Williams, they were the apples of her eyes. Her husband of 60 years departed this world May 25, 2008.
On Friday June 12, 2020 our Lord and Savior called her home from labor to reward at 10:10 AM. Later that night her cousin/ sister Dorothy Jean Williams followed her home at 9:16 PM. Lord help us.
