Wilma moved from Telephone to Dallas and then to Fort Worth as a young lady and worked at Mrs Baird’s Bakery. It was there where she met the love of her life B.W.Cook. Wilma became a hairstylist and it was her passion for over 60 years until a back injury forced her into retirement at 91 years of age. She would often remark how much she missed working and wished she was still able. She loved her fellow stylists and cherished customers. Taking care of their every need was her passion .
Wilma loved talking to her friends , caring for her cats , reading , and cooking Sunday lunch for her family . She adored her children and grandsons and was an important part of their lives. She also loved her Monday outings with Joyce Ann to her favorite lunch spots and shopping.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church .
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mose and Bertha Spann , Siblings Marvin Spann, Olin Spann and Ruby Early. She leaves behind her children Welton Cook of Fort Worth , Roger Cook and wife Mary of Hurst , Joyce Ann Key and husband Russell of Fort Worth. Grandsons Brian Cook , Travis Cook , Erik Key , Ethan Key and Evan Key Many nieces , nephews and treasured friends .
Visitation Sunday, November 18th 2:00-4:00 pm. Funeral service Monday, November 19th 11:00 am. Both held at Shannon Rose Hill, 7391 East Lancaster, Fort Worth 76112.
