

Ethel was born in Brighton, MA on August 18, 1918, and was a daughter of the late Weikko and Anna (Matteson) Leif. She was a graduate of Brighton High School with the class of 1935. She was one of the first women to enlist in the United States Marine Corps., and served her country proudly as a sergeant during WWII.
Ethel worked for many years at Holmes Transportation in Framingham, but her favorite years of employment were spent at the National Guard Armory in Natick, where she worked until her retirement at age 75.
Ethel leaves her sons; Wells McDonald of Cohasset, Gale McDonald of Framingham, and Dale McDonald of Natick; her daughters Kathleen Rabbitt, and her husband Joseph of Falmouth, and Melanie Levesque and her husband Wayne of Framingham. She was pre-deceased by her son, George Edward McDonald. She also leaves her grandchildren, Marybeth, Laura, and Douglas McDonald, Alicia Brown, and Bradford McDonald; Scott Johnson, Stephanie Gototweski, and Christa and Jenna Levesque; and five great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Elizabeth Whitford and Edith Walters.
Ethel will be remembered as a kind-hearted soul, whose soft blue eyes reflected the love of God.
A service in celebration of Ethel’s life will be held at 7 O’clock PM, on Thursday, February 20, at the Lutheran Church of Framingham, 720 Edgell Rd., FRAMINGHAM, relatives and friends are kindly invited. In keeping with Ethel’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that expressions of sympathy in Ethel’s memory be directed to the Lutheran Church of Framingham, 720 Edgell Road, Framingham, MA 01701.
