

Jane Gray Doty, 93, passed away with her loving family by her side on September 10, 2026. Born in Newton on December 18, 1932, she was raised in Acton and Weston and later resided in Sudbury and Stow, MA.
Jane was the daughter of the late Margaret (LeClear) Gray of Newton and Colonel Charles David Gray of Brockton. She was the beloved wife of the late Augustus Flagg Doty Jr. of Waltham. She was also predeceased by her daughters, Sarah D. Michaelides and Pamela G. Doty.
Jane is survived by Susan Flagg Doty and Cynthia D. Rankin; her grandsons, William F. Doty and Sean Yelton; her son-in-law, Bruce Rankin; and Christos Michaelides.
A well-known breeder and exhibitor, Jane devoted a lifetime to the world of purebred dogs, particularly English Setters, English Cocker Spaniels, and Petit Basset Griffon Vendéens. From her earliest years, she carried on the established kennel prefix Graecroft, registered with the AKC in 1934. Her dedication to breeding, raising, and showing dogs remained a defining thread throughout her long life. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was a particular favorite, and she especially enjoyed traveling there with Pam, Gus, and Bill.
Jane’s commitment to her sport was reflected in her membership in numerous organizations, including the Ladies’ Kennel Club, Framingham Kennel Club, Middlesex County Kennel Club, Morris & Essex Kennel Club, New England English Setter Club, National English Setter Club, English Cocker Spaniel clubs, PBGV clubs, and others.
A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, Box Mill Road, Stow, MA, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026
