

Joan R. Goddard of Framingham died Sunday, May 25, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was 90 and the wife of the late Thomas Walter Goddard. Mrs. Goddard entered the United States as one of the first World War II war brides to come to this country following the end of the war when she and her husband settled in Framingham in 1946. Born in England, she was the daughter of the late Jane and William Raggatt. She was employed by the Town of Framingham School System working in the cafeteria. Retired for many years, she loved her family, gardening, and the companionship of her dog ”Baby”. Family survivors include Thomas E. Goddard and Jean Hill of Hopedale, James and Joan Goddard of Framingham; Dorothy Christie in Cheltenham, England; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goddard was predeceased by her son, Dennis Carl Goddard, and siblings Connie and Dennis Raggatt. Visitation will be Thursday, May 29, 2014 at MetroWest Funeral & Cremation Service of Wadsworth-Chiappini Funeral Home, 318 Union Ave., Framingham from 9:30 to 10:30 am followed by the Episcopal Funeral Rite at 10:30 o’clock Interment will be in Edgell Grove Cemetery.
