Memory: When I was in middle school for home economics, we had to sew a “square” pillow. Absurd I know. There’s a reason that pillows are shaped the traditional way they are; and it’s because square shaped pillows just don’t cut it. They are too big, bulky, and don’t cuddle well. But, it was the 70’s and I was a kid who followed the rules. I chose from fabric provided which at the time was a hideous yellow, orange, and brown “flower” power pattern. I brought the pillow home and, as I remember, it soon became a favorite prop for my stepdad’s naptime. He had no trouble smoothing out the klunky corners to rest his head which gave me,at the time, a sense of accomplishment. A win for the both of us.
