

peacefully on May 22nd in Milton, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.
Born on May 19th, 1938, in Holden, West Virginia, Maxwell was the cherished son of Willie
and Thelma Oden. After graduating high school, Maxwell moved to Boston, where he made
his home and spent the remainder of his life.
Maxwell retired from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority in 1994 but was a man who
never stopped working. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Maxwell loved playing softball and
held a special passion for deep sea fishing, often enjoying trips off the boat of Captain
Bob’s in Hyannis.
Known for his hardworking nature and kind heart, Maxwell was always willing to lend a
hand. He had a unique sense of humor that brought smiles and laughter to those around
him. Maxwell was an excellent cook, and his affection for playing the lottery and enjoying
giant cans of cold beer were fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Maxwell leaves behind a loving family that includes his brothers Preston and Michael; his
daughter Thelma; his sons Michael, Toby, and Nicholas; grandchildren Justin, Yolanda,
Nola, Nyana, Cayden, and Nevarri; and great-grandchildren Hailey, Hannah, Austin,
Benjamin, Hadley, and Jaxon. Ex Wives Iris Oden, Suzanne Roy.
He was predeceased by his brother Lorenzo, daughter Rosemary, and son Maxwell Jr.
Maxwell made a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be deeply missed by many.
A good father and a great man, he now rests in eternal peace.
“Heaven has waited to welcome you home, and now you may rest in Eternal Bliss.
Oh say that he has arrived, and not that he has gone.
Arrived to hear the Savior’s voice, and see His welcome smile.
Then say not he has gone, but say in his Father’s house, he has arrived.”
Services will be held Advantage Funeral Home in Framingham, Massachusetts. 318 Union
