Dear Jan,
It is with a heavy heart that I recently learned of Bob’s passing and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to you and the entire Fine family. 
I last spoke with Bob shortly after his 50th high school reunion in 2015. We both exchanged stories from our younger days on Ravenswood Road where the Fine home was always a place where you could drop in anytime, day or night. Both of Bob’s parents, Max and Beverly were kind, generous, and understanding. Bob and I talked about perhaps getting together on a future Florida trip Anne (my wife) and I had planned. But due to Covid and other health issues that trip never occurred. One of the many stories we did recall during that conversation concerned a certain movie we attended in 1968! First a little background. Directly in back of the Fine’s house, across a chain-link fence, was a large yard and a Victorian boarding house that was owned by an older couple. The older woman’s name was Heidi (I believe) and she had a niece who lived in Bethpage Long Island. Each summer Evelyne would appear for a few glorious weeks. That summer (1968), both Bob, Mike (his brother), and I eagerly awaited Evelyne’s arrival. The 4 of us would hang out at the Fine’s, play games, watch television, and cause some degree of mischief (all under the watchful eye of Bob’s mom). That summer the movie ‘Romeo and Juliet’ opened in many of the local theaters and on one warm summer night all of us drove into Kenmore Square (Boston) to see the film. When it was over we left the theatre only to realize that Evelyne was so moved by the story it left her sobbing, uncontrollably! Our plans to get ice cream after the theatre were dashed as it took Bob the entire ride home to make her realize it was ‘only’ a story! 
Bob was a wonderful and caring soul and someone who is stitched into so many of my memories from our younger days together. Life seems to have passed us by so quickly. May his memory be a blessing to you always……..

Bob was always so engaging in conversation with an upbeat, kind spirit. I am so appreciative to have known him as a good friend. He will be very much missed! My deepest sympathies to Jan and all of Bob’s family.

Bob was in most of my classes at WHS 65. I enjoyed renewing our friendship at class reunions. He was always a kind friend and I know you will miss him. My condolences.

Mr. Fine was my 7th grade science teacher. He was honestly one of my favorite teachers throughout my education, always pushing to have me think outside the box. As I was 13/14 years old, never knew how fast time would fly. Now, 30 years old, much appreciative of those who help carve my path. Forever grateful and appreciative of Mr. Fine. Bob was a man who left everyone happier and better off by his presence.  I  miss all of his wonderful hilarious daily Facebook postings.

So very sorry to all. Jan used to work where I worked and met Bob a few times through DMT events.
Thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humor and conversations on FB.
He must have been an amazing teacher, caring and thoughtful.

Mr. Fine was my science teacher in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade… The impact he made on MANY students and my friends lasted the last 20 years, and the years to come. We all had inside jokes (some of which took me 15 years to understand hahahaha), and those countless memories are forever engrained in not only my heart, but many of my friends who also had the privilege of being his students. We love Mr. Fine and I know he knew it. A bunch of us stayed in contact with Mr. Fine over the years, even if it was just a sporadic “Thinking of you!” via Facebook. We were his non children, children; we had good times and bad, and the bad were usually always entertaining anyways hahaha. Till we meet again Mr. Fine, rest in peace.

Bob and I were close friends for 60+ years.  Our friendship began as day camp counselors in 1964.  I can't begin to tell of all the adventures and times we had together.  Bob and Jan attended my  wedding.  We enjoyed talking about both trivia and life in general.  I knew his parents and brothers in Waltham.  He got married while I was in the USAF.  We joked over his crazy jokes and his "Bobisms".  I'd meet with him at midnight when he had the midnight shift at McCormack and Dodge in Newton.  We'd collate IBM pages together.  He would talk with pride about his classroom days and how proud he was of his students.  My late wife, Marla, and I were excited when we found out he was moving from Hudson to NPR. 
 We spent several weekends at Casa Fine.  When I met Vicki he said to me, "She's a keeper".  Bob was like a brother to me.  I will miss him big time.

So sorry for your loss.  Bob and I grew up together on Ravenswood Road in Waltham Ma., living across the street from one another.  I have many fond memories of this time.  We had reconnected on Facebook a few years back and always enjoyed his wit and comments.  

A friend will be missed.
