

He was born on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, August 23, 1926, of Captain Levi Wallace Hopkins and Daisy Mae Collishaw. He attended school in Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia.
He was married to Thelma May Cunningham on June 4, 1949 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Roy had many trades: he was a commercial fisherman, worked for Construction Equipment Company as an engineer in the ship yards where he took many trips up and down the Saint Lawrence River. When the company closed, Roy took his family and immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts where he became a locksmith and joined the Mass. Locksmiths Association. He used his ship experience to receive his 1st Engineers and Master Pipe Fitters licenses which he used for 36 years as the Operations Engineer at the Brook House in Brookline.
Roy was an active member of Celebration International Church (Wayland, Mass.) and Glad Tidings Church (Quincy, Mass.) where he served in various ministries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, two sons, Robert and Peter, and three daughters, Nancy, Madeline and Daisy. Roy has 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Marguerite, Helen and Nancy. He was predeceased by one brother, Byford, and two sisters, Martha and Annie.
Roy will be surely missed by everyone that knew him.
Roy’s funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock on Tuesday, February 11, at the Celebration International Church, 6 Loker St., Wayland; with interment to follow in The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting hours will be from 6-9 pm on Monday at Wadsworth – Chiappini Funeral Home, 318 Union Avenue, FRAMINGHAM; relatives and friends kindly invited.
