Susan M. Levasseur, a kind-hearted, devoted, and compassionate woman, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the age of 78. A resident of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Susan was born on February 18, 1948, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Romeo and Lea (Berthelette) Payette.
Susan spent her early years in Millville, Massachusetts, and graduated from Blackstone High School. Following graduation, she pursued a career in clerical work, proudly following in her mother’s footsteps by working in the corporate office for Tupperware. After retiring, Susan enjoyed time living in both South Carolina and Florida before returning to Massachusetts to be closer to her family after the passing of her parents.
While Susan did not have children of her own, she shared a special and meaningful bond with her eldest niece, Shannon. The two spent countless hours together, often enjoying dinners and each other’s company.
Susan found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in caring for those around her. She was often the quiet presence in the room, content to sit back and take it all in—but if you were lucky enough to hear her laugh, it was unforgettable and contagious. She had a gentle way of making people feel loved through small, thoughtful gestures that meant everything.
Her beloved cat, Ruby, held a special place in her heart and was spoiled with love and care. Susan also expressed her love through cooking and baking. Her banana bread was a family favorite, and her chocolate cake was a staple at birthday celebrations. During the holidays, she lovingly prepared the family’s traditional “tuque” recipe. She even found joy in ironing—often taking her nieces’ clothes and returning them perfectly pressed on special hangers to keep them wrinkle-free.
Susan had a passion for shopping and took great delight in finding thoughtful gifts for others. She also enjoyed collecting jewelry, dolphins, and gnomes—a love she shared with her niece.
She was predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Lea Payette, and her brother, Roger Payette. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Payette; her nieces, Shannon and Lea Payette; and her nephew, Joseph Payette. She is also lovingly remembered by many cousins, with whom she cherished spending time.
Susan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
