

Frank Welch, Jr. was born September 6, 1943 in Franklin, LA ( The St. Joseph Community), to the late Frank Welch, Sr. and Mary Louise Williams. Frank departed this life into glory on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:05 AM. Frank attended Park Avenue School in Franklin, LA and he became a musician at a young age. Frank accepted the Lord and Savior Christ at an early age. He was married to Gilda Edmond Welch, and from this union two sons were born.
He perfected his love of music and became a professional Drummer and played drums for over 50 years for several famous musical recording legends including Tyrone Davis, Clarence Carter, Johnny Taylor and James Brown just to name a few. He was also an avid Drummer for many churches in the surrounding communities.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Baldwin. LA, where he played the drums and was a member of the United Methodist Men, Inc. and was active in the church until he became ill.
He leaves to cherish his memories; Three sons: Frank (Queen) Welch, III of Atlanta, Georgia , Bobby (Gafanua) Welch of Honolulu, Hawaii and Murphy (Shareka) Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; 14 Grandchildren, and 13 Great-grand Children. He also leaves behind 1 Brother: Lester Paul Guillory of New York, New York; 1 sister: Lizzie P. Stokes of Franklin, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and Friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Elizabeth Domingue Sonia and Ella Mae Williams and 1 brother: George Madison.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Jones Funeral Home of Franklin, LA
