OBITUARY
Harvey Edward Lehn
March 15, 1935 – January 28, 2021
Harvey Edward Lehn, son of Louis Otto Lehn and Evelyn (Allen) Cook, formerly of Westport and West Redding Connecticut, and Franklin New York, died peacefully January 28th at the age of 85.
Raised in Westport, Harvey graduated Staples High School and enlisted in the Navy to serve our country on the USS Coral Sea, a Midway-class aircraft carrier.
Harvey married the love of his life, Joan Mary Neuman on February 1, 1958 and built their first home on Lehn Farm Road in Westport. When the family began to grow he built their second home in West Redding Ct.
From masonry apprentice to mason contractor, to partner in Bethel Masonry Supply, Harvey worked long hours and many 7 day work weeks but always made time for what was most important to him, family, friends, and community.
He enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin in VT, and at the farm they built in New York State, which they later made their permanent home. Harvey and Joan traveled extensively exploring the country coast to coast. They visited many states, enjoying the National Parks and the Casinos the most.
His hobbies included softball, hunting and fishing, gardening, wine making, and playing cards. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors.
He was a volunteer Constable and Fireman in Redding Ct. He was also a member of the Georgetown CT Lions Club and The USS Coral Sea CVA-43 Association. After moving to New York State he became a member of the Elks Lodge in Sidney NY. He was a lifelong member of the NRA.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years Joan. He was a strong, great husband who always put his family first. He also leaves his children, Theresa E. Lehn of Sharon CT, Deborah M (Lehn) Helming and husband Barry of Oxford CT, and son Michael Lehn of New Milford CT. Harvey will be greatly missed by grandchildren Kristi and Rob Thorpe, Caroline, Margaret, and Emily Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was predeceased by his brother Louis O. Lehn and is survived by his sister Susan(Lehn) Webb of Dennis, MA

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 2-4 at the Kenneth L Bennett Funeral Home, 425 Main St, Franklin NY, with limited guests, social distancing and mask wearing. A celebration of his life will be later, when safe.
