Joyce T. Opramolla

She was born March 28, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Edward and Hilda (Wellnitz) Thielk. She married Robert P. Opramolla on August 30, 1952, and he predeceased her on November 24, 2000.

Joyce was employed for 17 years at SUNY Oneonta where she was the administrative secretary in the Public Safety Department.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Delhi, the American Home of Treadwell, the Treadwell Community Club, and was a volunteer usher at Glimmerglass Opera.

Joyce was an avid reader, enjoyed crafts, and all the special times spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Roberta Weinberg of Monroe, CT., Mark Opramolla of Treadwell, Joseph and Deborah Opramolla of Rindge, NH., Thomas Opramolla of Schenectady, John and Larissa Opramolla of North Haven CT., Lorraine Healy and her husband Brandon Graber of Ledyard, CT., and Robert H. Opramolla of Treadwell, and her 15 grandchildren.

Her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Lois (Thielk) Mitchell, Edward Richard Thielk, Jacqueline Ann (Thielk) Kunysz, Shirley Mae Thielk, Dorothy Thielk, OP, Donald James Thielk, Kathryn Rose (Thielk) Warras, Margaret Mary (Thielk) Zukowski, Rose Marie (Thielk) Popowitz, and John Lawrence Thielk, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Geraldine Ruth (Thielk) Jordan, Joanne Adele (Thielk) Mackris, Thomas Anthony Thielk, and David Martin Thielk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00AM on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in St. Peter’s Church, Delhi with the Rev. Edward Golding, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Croton Union Cemetery, Treadwell.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 PM at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, 425 Main St., Franklin at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Church, Delhi or the Treadwell Emergency Squad.
