My sincere sympathies to Lois, Lori, and Shane. I first met the Stalters when I worked and lived on Ken and Lois's farm during the summer of 1976. This "city boy" learned a lot about farming that summer, but more importantly, I learned about family values and love. I have very dear memories of the entire family. I am so sorry to hear about Ken's passing belatedly.

Dear Stalter family-Oh how hard to hear of the passing of your dear one...Ken was such a dear man! Was an honor to know him, work on the farm, and just get to have time visiting whenever and wherever that took place. He always was willing to help, share his love of art, carving, etc. He was always interested in others and cared, he had such a tender heart. Yet he was strong, funny, worked hard, loyal, generous, and so much more. One of the last memories I have is him sharing carving tips, helps, and supplies with our son Matthew who was learning to carve. While we have been overseas we haven't had the joy of seeing him so much over these past years. But he was one we knew and so much apart of community life. We are blessed and our lives are richer to have known him. We send much love and prayers for you all! May the Lord comfort you and provide all you need.

Dear Shane and Family, we send our heartfelt condolences to you and yours at this time. I heard wonderful stories about your family through Rob - and one day I had the honor of meeting your parents. I complimented your Dad on this beautiful blanket they had in their living room. A while later, we found it wrapped up and given to us as one of our wedding gifts! Your father was so gifted in art, of the heart and spirit - and he touched every life he came into contact with so much love, candor, and joy. We are indeed sorry for your loss.

Warmest sympathies to all who knew and loved Ken.  It seems hardly adequate to say that Ken and Lois enriched our lives as they did all of those they touched.  Carole and I always found a warm welcome at their home.  I never understood how they had time to sit around and talk to us when they were still on the farm milking twice a day while raising kids, painting, sculpting, telling funny stories, carving birds, baking pies, making Indian artifacts the hard way, getting the first cutting into the barn in time to leave for a vacation in Switzerland the second week of June, winning first prize at community Halloween and, in general, excelling at everything they did.  Their enthusiasm, generosity and hilarity made them incomparable builders of community, of friendship, and human solidarity.  Alas, another like Ken will not be along soon.

Shane, truly sorry to hear about your dad. My sincere condolences to your entire family. I will never forget what an awesome artist Ken was, his commitment to his family, nor his deliberet and direct answers when he was asked a question. He was one of a kind.

It was an honor to know Ken. I have fond memories of him and Lois walking around their property or house ... sharing stories about farming, gardening, collecting; playing dress up and on and on. It was a special treat to watch Ken teach my kids to whittle or demonstrate an old antique tool. I especially got a kick out of his snacks of fried bologna and butter on crackers.. Our brief visits were always touching and memorable. He was indeed special.

Such an extraordinary man. To count him as a friend is one of the great privileges of my life.

What a lovely man Mr. Stalter was.  I always enjoyed talking to him at soccer games.  He was down to earth, interesting, and interested in others.  He was the patriarch of a very wonderful family. Sincere and heartfelt condolences to you all.

Mr. Stalter was one of the nicest smartest earthly man and farmer I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Prayers for his family.

There is no doubt Ken was a very special person.  We first met Ken & Lois thru Everet Goldsmith ( Goldie ) some 50 + years ago  We all had a common interest in antiques & old things. We are saddened by Kens passing but treasure the fact that we were privileged to have known him.

Ken was a wonderful, fascinating, kind man that helped raise so many of us in the community.  He made all of us better people.

Ken was a very special person who was always there for others in their losses. He always had an encouraging word or a special deed for you. Thanks for the little whittled pine tree you gave me. I have always treasured it. Will miss you my friend.

carl always so enjoyed the sketches you made for him, especially the one where he is hospital chasing a nurse down hall! He always talked about the earlier years and the church group and how much fun you all had.
