Richard was born in Corinth NY. He was the only child of Richard F Lohrman and Martha A. (Balitz) Lohrman. He was a 1947 graduate of Syracuse CHS and a 1952 graduate of Hartwick College. While attending college Richard served as a Sergeant in the 108th Medical Division of the Army National Guard. On June 14, 1953 he married his college sweetheart, Joan Bennett.
Richard served as CEO/Secretary of the Otsego County Farmers Cooperative Insurance Company from 1972-1991 where he remained on their Board of Directors for an additional 11 years.
Richard was an avid Philatelist and Numismatist and served as the President of the Tri-County Stamp Club. He was a former President of Franklin Rotary Club and member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge. He served as Trustee of the Franklin Village Library. He was a 50 year member/EMT of the Franklin Fire Department’s Emergency Squad. He was a 65 year member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.
Richard will be remembered as a loving and deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, colleague and friend. May the void he leaves behind be filled with cherished memories until we meet again.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan (Bennett) Lohrman; his two adoring daughters; Nancy Seiden of Kingston, MA, Susan Lohrman along with her spouse Alyssa Goldstein of Middletown, NY he also leaves behind three grandsons; 1st Lt. Garrett Seiden of Ewa Beach HI, Connor Seiden of Webster, NY and Trevor Seiden of Kingston, MA.
A Memorial service will be offered 11:00am on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, 475 Main St., Franklin NY. A private burial for the family will be held at Ouleout Cemetery.
