

She was born on June 13, 1934 in Wyalusing, PA, the daughter of Donald Horton and Melissa Belle (Lyons) Moody.
She married Lyall H. Sage in Dushore, PA on May 3, 1952. Bertie worked as a waitress at David Wilmot Hotel in Towanda, PA. She and Lyall moved to Oneonta when he accepted an appointment with the New York State Police on October 25, 1956. After settling at southside Oneonta, she served ice cream at Johnson Dairy. One of her recent favorite treats, was a chocolate & vanilla twist from Golden Guernsey. She also worked for a time as a seamstress at Oneonta Dress Factory, but most enjoyed babysitting for family and friends.
Bertie lived a wonderful life and was loved dearly by all her family and friends. She loved watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Her favorite was basketball. She also enjoyed watching the Yankees. She also really enjoyed playing games, especially cards, and was happiest when she won. Sewing was a favorite hobby. She made prom dresses for her daughter Linda, a wedding dress for her daughter Kelly, and taught her daughter Karen to sew. She made many bags for friends and family.
She was a past member of the Franklin Methodist Church, and most recently attended Franklin Community Bible Church. She was a Christian believer in Jesus and we know she is in Heaven with her Lord.
She is survived by her children, Karen Jean Sage of Maryland, NY, Linda and Tom Worden of Franklin, NY, and Kelly and Douglas Coughlin of Franklin, NY; grandchildren, Brad and Tina Brundege of Maryland, NY, Keri Brundege and Jeff Enslow of Wirtz, VA, Justin and Stephanie Worden of Fairfax, VA, Jonathan and Kathryn Worden of Castle Rock, CO, Lindsay Worden of Franklin, NY, and Daniel Coughlin, Sage Coughlin, Jeffrey Coughlin of Franklin, NY; and great-grandchildren Alex Brundege, Dylan Brundege, Leah Brundege, Emma Enslow, Emmaline Worden, Henry Worden, and Justin Worden II; sister in law, Eileen Sherman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lyall; her parents; and her siblings, Donald H. Moody, Jr., Joan Landmesser, and Arthur Moody.
A memorial service will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 1 pm at the Franklin Community Bible Church, 89 Center Street, Franklin with Pastors Phillip Van Saun and Walt Schlundt officiating. Friends are invited to greet the family at the church immediately following.
Burial will take place at a later date in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
