
Barbara Ann Alspaugh, age 71, of Middletown, passed away Tuesday at the Butler-Warren Hospice. She was born in Hamilton, June 21, 1939, the daughter of Simon and Dorothy Shumaker. In her younger years, she was employed in Real Estate, and later became a caregiver for her older relatives, visited shut-ins, and was active with the Girl Scouts, and activities at the Hunter United Methodist Church. Her husband, John B. Alspaugh, preceded her in death September 7, 1987. She is survived by 3 daughters, Deborah John McCain of Middletown, Lynda Alspaugh of Middletown, and Lorraine Tuttle of West Middletown; a son, John M. Lisa Alspaugh of Bellevue, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren, Sarah McCain, Daniel Scott, Emily Tuttle, Hanna Tuttle, Gretchen Alspaugh, David McCain, Jeremy Miller, and Jacob Comeau; 2 stepgrandchildren, Supawadee Gipson, and Somchai Taesuwan; 6 greatgrandchildren; a sister, Jeannette Sponcel of Tucson, Arizona; her in-laws, Dennis & Nancy Christian, Jay & Marcia Alspaugh, Clarence & Cleola Alspaugh, James & Donna Alspaugh, and Sylvia Alspaugh; many nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Roger Conner. Friends may call from 11 AM until 2 PM Friday, May 27, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Funeral services will then be held at 2:00 PM, officiated by The Rev. Michael Way. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
