

Barbara G. Barker, age 82, passed peacefully surrounded by her family, at Hospice of Dayton on July 12, 2017. Born on August 23, 1934 in Fremont, Ohio to Regina and John Leo Sanford, Barbara was the seventh of ten children. She graduated from Providence School of Nursing in 1955, and practiced nursing throughout a long and distinguished career. Married to Pierre F. Barker, they raised a wonderful large family and belonged to Precious Blood Parish for many years. Most notable was her love of her family, raising eight children. Barbara gave her children the love of education and the drive for success. Barbara was a member of St Mary of the Assumption in Springboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre, her parents, and many family members. Barbara is survived by two sisters, Florence and Regina Rose; her children, Bruce Alan (Mary Beth), Brian (Katy), Robert (Kristine), Mary Anne (Michael) Hadley, Teresa Bennett, Judy (Peter) Eck, Barbara, and Christopher (Leah), by sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home, Springboro, OH from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10am at St Mary of the Assumption, Springboro, OH. Burial of Christian Faith will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family expresses special thanks to the caring staff of Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Barbara, and to her neighbors Phyllis and Clarence Blankenship for all of their support over the past few years, and Dr. Mark Romer and staff at Dayton Physicians.
