Beatrice Hamilton was born on September 22, 1917, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the 2nd of 7 children. She lived in Indiana until she moved to Franklin, Ohio before she started school. Even as a young child, Beatrice was active in church. Growing up she helped take care of her younger brothers and sisters as well as babysat other children.
The first job Beatrice had was at NCR during WWII where she worked until she got married and started her family. Being at home to raise her three children, Pauline, James and Elvin, was Beatrice's top priority. She and her husband Paul owned several businesses in Franklin and Springboro until he passed in 1988.
Beatrice was active in the Nazarene Church in Franklin where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Director of Bible School, etc. She also was active in the church choir and ultimately became choir director.
Later in life, Beatrice worked for Hospice of Middletown for over twelve years as both a volunteer and as a caregiver. She thoroughly enjoyed this because she always felt happiest when she was helping others.
Beatrice also enjoyed traveling around the United States and particularly has fond memories of visits to Gatlinburg, Branson and the Ohio Amish Country.
At Beatrice's 100th birthday party, which her children gave her, she personally greeted over one hundred guests. Guests came from as far away as Texas and Maryland - a true statement of how much everyone, family and friends alike, loved her.
Beatrice has loved her life and always tried to do the right thing and to help mothers. When asked about her secret to longevity she said that she believed in the philosophy of live and let live. She recommended not being nosy and to be kind and honest and to show others that she is always trying to do the right thing.
Beatrice has been a resident of Sycamore Glen Retirement Community since 2015 and has been a blessing to all who knew her.
