Carol Jean (Fry) Ballard, 81, of Springboro, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 at Sycamore Glen Nursing Home. She was born January 23rd, 1940 to the late Earl and Marjorie (Johnson) Fry. She was a 1958 graduate of Springboro High School and received her BA in Education from Miami University. Carol taught 34 years at Jonathon Wright Elementary School (18 years kindergarten and 16 years special education).
Carol was often described as a “treasured member” of Jonathon Wright Elementary School who made a lasting impact on hundreds of students. Former students would often name Carol as their favorite elementary teacher. She will be remembered as someone who was kind and caring, who took time to listen and problem solve if a child was upset. Sometimes this was with thoughtful and loving words, and other times with a hug.
She was a previous member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and an active member in the church choir. Carol’s Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church and community.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Chester Russell Ballard; son, Christopher Russell Ballard; daughter, Amy Elizabeth (Ballard) Evans; daughter in law, Joanne Michelle Fecke; grandson, Ethan Artum Evans; granddaughter, Daria Elizabeth Evans and granddaughter, Emily Michelle Ballard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Lewis Fry.
At Carol’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. To honor Carol, the family suggest a memorial donation to the American Diabetic Association.
