Carol Shiverdecker McKenzie

Carol Lynn Shiverdecker McKenzie, 52, passed away Friday October 19, 2012 while on vacation in Maryland with her husband by her side. Her professional life was spent working for Cincinnati Children's Hospital, within Children's Liberty O.R. and then as a nurse practitioner with the Colorectal Center. Her personal time was spent travelling the country with family and friends. She explored the beauty of nature through photography and gifted those she left behind not just with beautiful photos but wonderful memories.

Carol was born July 31st, 1960 beside her twin Cheryl. Daughter of Helen and Jim Shiverdecker, Carol was married to Brian McKenzie for 26 years. She is survived by: her husband, Brian; her parents, Helen and Jim; her siblings, Cheryl Brumbaugh and Jim Shiverdecker; Mindy James; her beloved children, Christina, Branham, and Leah; her granddaughter Alexis; her aunt and uncle, Roy and Laverne Metzger; and nephews, Jesse and Jake. While her time with us was too short, the impact of her life will never fade. Wife, daughter, sister, mother, caregiver, friend she will be remembered through every kiss, hug, and smile.

On Tuesday October 23, 2012, there will be visitation of life at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Family, friends, and colleagues can share memories from 5 to 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 24 at 6 P.M. at Ascension and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wyoming, Ohio. All colleagues, friends, and family are welcome to attend. Carol would wish donations to be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital's Retinoblastoma Cancer research and treatment center in lieu of flowers.
