Carrol "Tony" Gross

Carrol B. Gross Sr., age 93, of Franklin, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Legacy of Centerville. Carrol was born in Trenton, OH on May 5, 1930 to the late Joseph Rodney and Norma (Painter) Gross.

Carrol served in the US Army from 1947 to 1950, he lived in Chautauqua for 52 years where he was a Security Guard and very active in the community, he retired from NCR and was an overland truck driver for many years. He also was a Corrections Officer with Warren County Correctional Institute for 10 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was known for great hugs. Carrol was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Gross; sisters, Wilma Willis, Maxine Vandervoort, Wavalene Gross. Carrol is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley (Manning) Gross; his four children, Joe (Debbie) Gross, Donna (Danny) Parker, Tony (Liz) Gross, Doug (Debbie) Gross; his eleven grandchildren, Dominic Gross (Christi Barry), Joel (Monica) Gross, Matt (Michele) Parker, Katie (Patrick) Mullen, Wendy (Jason) Guthrie, Isaac (Kanisha) Gross, Stacey (Keith) Crouch, Tim Gross, Chad Eddings, Josh (Megan) Eddings, Jesse (Jeni) Eddings; 28 great grandchildren; and a brother, David Gross; and other family members.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Woodhill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be sent to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Carrol.
