

David Max Hopkins, age 71, of Liberty Township, Ohio, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at West Chester Hospital. Max served in the US Navy in the Nuclear Submarine Service during the Cold War. He was employed with the University of Dayton Research Institute for 21 years, retiring in 2000. Max was an avid photographer and adventurer, and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hopkins, mother, Gladys Hopkins, brothers, Harold Hopkins, Jr., William Hopkins, Ralph Hopkins, John Hopkins, and sister, Janet Wessell. Max is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Hopkins, daughter, Lori Hopkins, son, David (Gretchen) Hopkins, two granddaughters, Riley and Regan Hopkins, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His life will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday September 10, 2016 at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 North Main Street, Springboro, Ohio. Burial with military honors will be held at 3pm Saturday in Scioto Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
