Delcia M Gambill

Delcia Mae Gambill, age 93, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 in Franklin, Ohio. She was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on September 9, 1932 to Thomas and Dale (Lawson) Strong. She joins in heaven her parents; husband Hugh Gambill; sisters Maude, Ruth, Faye, Jean, and brother Tommy. Delcia is survived by her daughter Sharon Gambill, son Thomas (Kathleen) Gambill; sisters Joish (Charles) Spencer, Norma Strong, and Vicky (Wayne Lackey); grandchildren Justin (Jennifer) Evans, Karisa (Charlie) Steed and Christine Gambill; great grandchildren Kale and Easton Evans and Paisley and Callie Steed, and many nieces and nephews.

Delcia attended Breathitt County High School and was employed for many years at Sorg Paper Company. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds, decorating, shopping, and camping. Delcia and Hugh spent 20 years wintering in Eustis, Florida with friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and cooking them meals from her garden. Delcia will be remembered for her southern drawl, tall tales and hearty laugh, her compassion for others, her strong faith and her generosity.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio. Visitation and a memorial service will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a luncheon celebrating Delcia’s life in Anderson’s Life Celebration Center.
