Docia James

Docia (Hester) James, 84 of Middletown, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 10, 2026. Docia was born, July 5, 1942 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Fred and Agnes (Combs) Duff. Also preceding her in death are her beloved husband of 38 years Archie James in 1999, son Joseph James in 2024, granddaughter Sarah James, grandson Todd James.

Docia leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Lisa (Roger) Amis, sons Robert (Beverly) James, Jonathan (Jodie) James, Jimmie James; grandchildren Christopher (fiancé Tara Dickerson) Amis, Brittany (Alex Jones) Amis-Jones, Katie (Michael) Schaerer, Brent (Erica) James, Joshua (Amanda) James, Ryan James, Justin James, Drue Luttrel; great-grandchildren Natalie, Hannah, Lucas, Rylee, Wyatt, Henry, Tucker, Joel. Also surviving are her siblings Bill Duff, Cooley Duff, Della Mae Duff, Lester Duff and numerous extended family and friends.

Docia was a big Cincinnati Bengal fan and University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Docia’s family will receive friends at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East 2nd Street, Franklin, Friday, July 17, 2026 starting at 11:00 am, followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm with Robin Mobley presiding. Following services, Docia will be laid to rest next to her beloved Archie in Woodhill Cemetery, Franklin.
