Donnie went to school with me at Garrard County High and so did his brother Gilbert. Gilbert was in my graduation class and Donnie dated my Sister, Shelia. He was always a fun person to be around and it has been years since I've seen any of his family. I moved to Florida in 91 but my family still live in Kentucky. Don taught me many lessons that I will never forget but what comes to mind right now is the time when Don rejected an invitation to participate in a project meeting. This was quite unusual for Don so I had to inquire why and he said: "I can't I am coaching my son's team". This taught me the importance of family. Know that we share your pain for DK was more than a boss, he was a mentor and a friend. DK made a difference in all the lives he touched. I will always remember his kindness, empathy and dedication to his NCR family.

My first international meeting was with Don 10 years ago. At that moment I was surprised with the type of bosses NCR had. Along the years I learned that not all bosses are the same and just a few of them can be considered mentors. And even less can also be considered friends. Don was one of them. I want to thank Don because of all the support he gave me in all aspects during the years. I will miss him as a mentor and as a friend. Deepest condolences from Beraja family to Kelly family.

When I first began to work for DON organization, I only heard good things about DON, but after DON 

and I had our first meeting, it was apparent, Don would not just be my Director, but he became a good friend. 

The news of his passing took me by surprise as just weeks before, we shook hands and Don asked 

"how are things going?" and I replied "Great!" and of course, he gave me that "Smile" as if he was reading my mind. "Really?" Don will truly be missed by the NCR family as he has left his legacy for the meaning

Don and I had talked about home grown tomatoes and BBQ. Everytime I bite into a juicy ripe tomato or chew on a tasty rib I will remember him and that winning smile.

Don was my manager for the last two years. He was always there when I needed it. For him, the person was always above the employee. What I admired more about him was his clear sense of the importance of the family. Very difficult to find a tutor/manager/friend like Don.

It was my true honor to have known Don. He was not only my colleague, but he was also a great friend. I was lucky to work with him for many years, and I know how dedicated he was to his family, his team members, and his work. He stopped by my office frequently, and I would always kid him about "Here comes trouble!" That was all in fun though, because we always had the most amazing discussions about how to make things better in the company and how to grow the team members in their careers. When the building in Duluth was new and Don was one of the first ones there, he became the self-appointed IT security police and would check the doors and accesses in the building after hours just to show where we might be vulnerable. He would get this impish grin when he discovered something that needed to be addressed. He was proud to take on these responsibilities that would help us all. I will truly miss him. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Don was my manager for several years and always gave me the feeling of being one of his flock even though I was remote to him working in the UK, He mentored me and encouraged me to do the best I could in my working life.

Last year I lost my father and learned how supporting and compassionate Don was to myself and also my family and for that I owed him a debt of gratitude.

My lasting memory will be on our weekly team conference call Don would always in his best Scottish accent announce my name "Derek" which will always bring a smile to my face.

Oh, my dear, dear, Brother! How I will miss you!!! Even though we had grown apart in the last several years, I will cherish your antics you pulled on my "boyfriends"!!!! Oh, I can hear you now: "WHAT BOYFRIENDS??" Remember that time you came home on leave from the Marines (you looked so handsome in your uniform - of course I would never have told YOU that). You answered the phone and it was a guy asking for me and you screamed as loud as you could "MARTHA, HURRY, IT'S A GUY!!!!" Trying to make it sound like no guys ever called me (of course you were not too far off).



Also, remember the time when you came home on leave from the Marines and I had a date (yeah, a real date) who came to the door and you answered. He asked for me and you asked him what he wanted and he said he had a date with me an you said, "WHAT? SHE HAS A DATE WITH ME!!!" It took me the rest of the night to try to convince him you were really my brother!! Come to think of it, I don't think I ever went out with him after that! That was Joe Burke (Burke's Bakery heir). Oh, well you probably did me a favor (I have enough problems with my weight as it is).



I am sorry I have not been a better sister but I will always love you and will miss you terribly!!!!

I worked on the CSMS Service Delivery application(s). I can honestly say that in my 20 year career, Don was one of my most favorite leaders. He not only offered encouragement, and respect, but also trusted me enough to make decisions that were solid for NCR as well. Don was very motivational in that way, and yet he had a kind approach to coaching, as well. I have missed working with Don, over these past years.
