

Eleanor "Ellie" Ann Brecht, age 76, of Monroe, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born February 5, 1938 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the daughter of William Randolph Bigelow and Mame Owens Bigelow. Ellie was the founder of Hospice of Middletown and the Mount Pleasant Singing Group. She was active in AIM Theatre, MHS All American Weekend Vaudeville Shows, Middletown Summer Youth Theatre, the Church of the Ascension Rummage Sale, and Sunday school. She also adopted families in need. She worked as a United Way call line specialist and also for Nutrisystem. She is survived by one daughter, Leslie Ken Jones of Great Falls, VA; one grandson, Kameron Jones; two sisters-in-law, Frances "Frankie" Carlson and Barbara Wilson both of Middletown; nieces and nephews, Kathy Chipps, Meg Wilson, Kacee Cox, Mike Sherman, and Robert Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Brecht in 2011; daughter, Terri Lynn Brecht; her parents; and a sister, Billie Haley. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Mt. Pleasant Chapel.
