Elizabeth Spurlin

Elizabeth L. "Betty" Spurlin, age 77 of Middletown, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at The Woodlands of Middletown. Betty was born July 6, 1936 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of Charles Worley and Virginia Christman Worley. She was the secretary for First Presbyterian Church from 1979 to 2002. Betty's life revolved around her family. Betty is survived by her daughter, Darcy K. Spurlin of Middletown; two sons, Frederick S. wife, Debbie Spurlin of Hebron, Kentucky and Timothy L. wife, Amy Spurlin of The Woodlands, Texas; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Harry "Buck" Worley of Gahanna, Ohio; a sister, Charlene Regis of Martins Ferry, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick S. Spurlin in 1976; a sister, Jenny Duncan; and a great grandson, Pierce Samuel McKenzie.

Visitation will be at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with services at 7:00 PM, Reverend David Jackson officiating. Visitation will be at the Heslop Funeral Home in Martins Ferry from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM on Friday. Committal service and burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Martin's Ferry at 2:00 PM on Friday with Minister Rod Kasler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The P.I.E.R.C.E.
