I can never forget the yearly Christmas Eve parties at Uncle Harry and Aunt Evalyn's home as I was growing up. My deepest sympathies to Paul, Doug, and Kathy. Although I have not seen you in many years, my prayers are with you all. Your mother was such a wonderful, kind and hospitable person.

Kathy, You know I will always think of your mom and Dixie in the same thought; I was so lucky to have someone as special as your mom want to take care of her while out of town. I always knew Dixie was in the best hands ever. She will be missed by so many people for so many reasons.

Kathy, Doug & Paul - We are so sorry for the loss of your Mom. Even though we did not get to see you all as often as we would have wished, the memories we do have are all so wonderful. Aunt Evalyn was a wonderful, special lady and I was so proud to call her my Aunt. I remember growing up and she would create the miniature houses and all the contents. It was always so fascinating to me and I can see them to this day. She always had happy smile and welcoming personality. So glad that she was able to get out to CA with Kathy and Aunt Sara Jane. Our prayers and love are with you now and always. So glad she was with us as long as she was. Big hug to you all.

One of my favorate memories of Evalyn was after attending a service at Springboro United Church Of Christ. My son, Kasey was around 3 at the time and his Grandma & Evalyn had the same build and hair style. He ran up to her, wrapped his little arms around her legs and gave her a big hug, then looked up and realized, Oh, that's not my Grandma. She got the biggest kick out of that. You could always count on a hug from Evalyn, whether you were at church, the Donut Haus or any place else. When you get to heaven, give Grandma Ruth & Harry a hug for us. Evalyn, we will forever miss your hugs.

It doesn't seem possible that someone so alive and active in our Springboro community just a few weeks ago is gone. We all have our special memories that will stay with us forever. She was there when we went to the drugstore; she was there when we went to Ben Franklin; and she was a big part of the success of the Brass Pig Tea Room. And who will be able to go get a donut without thinking of Evalyn with her car with the miniature American flag proudly flying in the wind.



In the 1950s, Springboro basketball cheerleaders had the coolest skirts in the league because Evalyn made those wool, plaid, pleated skirts for them. She taught many of us how to sew through her work with 4-H. When Ted and I were married, she made our flower girl's dress, and when we needed cloth pieces for the center of our tables at the Brass Pig, she roll-hemmed all of them.



She was at every historical society meeting supporting whatever project was going on, and she carefully clipped and collected several scrapbooks of current events as a member of the society's board. She served on the Sesquicentennial Committee in 1965, and she was a part of the current Bicentennial Committee.



We will miss you, Evalyn. You will be in our hearts forever!!

I feel so blessed to have been with Evalyn at my Dad's visitation in August. Thanks to Paul, Emily and Kathy for being with us.There was the drug store, daily...the Brass pig, and then the Donut House and much more. Bud, Pearl, Evalyn and Harry had so many wonderful times. I should have told you Evalyn how much Bud missed Harry. Thanks for calling to check on my Dad so often. We the children are blessed by the wonderful times our parents shared. Evalyn, I will miss you as will everyone who knew you. Prayers to the family.

Springboro has truly lost one of it's most beloved citizens.....what a treasure Evalyn was.

She could always make me smile and laugh with her wonderful sense of humor. I will miss the "talks" we had and I will miss her.

Evalyn lit up any room with her welcoming smile and sense of humor - whether it was the church fellowship hall, the Brass Pig or the Donut shop. I loved Evalyn's stories about Springboro. I'll miss her.

Evalyn and I became friends in the 1980's, when she worked at Bennett's Drugs in Springboro. Since then, we've kept in touch through the Historical Society in Franklin. She submitted several Veterans' forms to me, to be made into scrapbook pages at the Franklin Library. She was a wonderful person.

I saw Evalyn about 12 years ago in Springboro and had a wonderful visit. She will be missed by so many who enjoyed her graciousness and great sense of humor. My sincere condolences to the Harris Family.

We will miss Evalyn's smile, the twinkle in her eye and the kind words she always had for our family at church. You are in our prayers.

She was such a sweet lady. ALways had a smile and a kind word.

A special time in our lifes being with Evalyn each day when she worked at the Brass Pig and we had our gift shop in the same building. It will leave a real vacant spot in our lives. Always looking to see if her car was parked at the Donut Shop. Now we look in passing and remember a lady we were so glad we had the pleasure of being with. Love you Evalyn.

Evalyn was always gracious and full of good will and cheer to all she came in contact with and her infectious love will carry those who met her on through life. Recalling her zeal and zest for life and living is uplifting as she always gave her all to every thing she was part of including her many contributions to our community and personal lives. Sympathy and love to Kathy and the entire family. We will miss her terribly.

Your Mother was definitely a Springboro/Frankin institution. What a wonderful lady, so full of life and the biggest smile ever. We so enjoyed having dinner with her and your Dad. It seems like we have known them forever and every time we have come back to Ohio we would call and take her to lunch or dinner; when we were there in Dec. on the 24th, I called her and had a wonderful conversation with her, she so wanted to go out, but was just not strong enough to do so. She talked about wanting to be 100 and then said she would settle for 90! What a wonderful, nice and friendly LADY; she was so very "special" to so many of us! Our love and prayers to you all,

I'm unable to express the grief that I have at this time. In my teen years, the Harris house was my home away from home. Evalyn was my second Mom and was always there watching over us. Throughout the next 15 or so years, she was always one you could go to and find out what was going on in the town. Her smile not only lit up the place where she worked and people she came in contact with, but the whole community. She is, and will always be missed be all that knew her. Keep on smiling Evalyn,,,,and we know you're safe now.

Evalyn will be greatly missed. She made my generation feel like family. She was great to volunteer with and such a community supporter. I don't know if she knew a stranger or if she shared her time & support with everyone she met. I'll always remember the twinkle in her pale blue eyes, and her recognizable laugh. I married into a family, which put me in touch with her sister Flo & her mother. They welcomed me immediately. I have such fond memories of your family Evalyn & growing up in the High School neighborhood.
