

Gaynol Jean Patton Townsend of Middletown, Ohio, passed away April 24, 2014 at Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville, Ohio. Mrs. Townsend was born in Middletown, Ohio, on October 18, 1933 and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Lemon Monroe High School in 1951. She worked for G. C. Murphy Co., for five years and for Middletown City Schools for 19 years with most of her time at Monroe High School as a cafeteria worker. While working at Monroe High School, some of her favorite customers were her own children. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Debi Parks and Susan Piersall; parents, Marie Dome Patton and Vestal Patton; her grandparents, Elizabeth and George Dome of Middletown and Cora and J.B. Patton of Tennessee; Mother and Father-in-law, Cleavy & Jessee Townsend of Kentucky; three brothers-in-law, Walter, Oscar and J.D. Townsend of Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Tipton and Geneva Scott of Kentucky. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray Townsend; two sons, Steve Donna Townsend of Franklin, Ohio and Brian Shari Townsend of Waynesville, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Croshie Wardlow of Middletown, Ohio; and several close friends. Gaynol loved to spend time in the Great Smoky Mountains. She was active in Girl Scouts all through her school years. She was also a lifetime member of Blue Ball Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday, Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Lawler officiating. Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio.
