Brooks, Geraldine Maxine (Barrett) of Franklin, age 83, went to to be with the Lord on October 11, 2021.

Maxine was born to Oscar and Ethel (Payne) Barrett in Berea, Kentucky and graduated from Madison Central High School located in Richmond, Kentucky in 1956.

Maxine and Henry Brooks were married in 1957. They joined Grand Avenue Church of God, now Towne Boulevard Church also in 1957. Maxine loved being a Sunday School teacher over the years.

In 1985, Maxine moved to Portland, Oregon , to be close to family. In 2003, she moved to Post Falls, Idaho, where she enjoyed living "out west" for 8 more years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Henry Brooks; daughter, Vonda (Steve) Etter, of Newport, OR; sons, Kerry (Dana) Brooks, of Franklin, OH and Barry Brooks, of Boise, Idaho. Maxine loved being a grandmother to her 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lawrence. She is survived by sisters, Irene Barrett, Jackie (Mike) Yelton and brothers, Vernon (Sandy) Barrett and Paul (Gail) Barrett.

Maxine loved to read, write short stories and poetry, praying for others and care taking for those in need. She lives on in our heart.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Franklin Church, at 704 S. River Street. The Memorial Service will begin at 1:30 p.m. following the visitation.

Maxine and Henry live next-door to my family in Hunter for many many years. I have very fond memories of them as a child. Maxine and my mom were best friends always having coffee together in the mornings and always running to garage sales together. She was a very sweet lady who will be missed
