Howard William Mayfield, age 81 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on October 21, 2025 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 22, 1944 to the late Ernest Edward and Mary Mildred Mayfield (Brunk).
Howard worked at the University of Dayton in the grounds department. He like to watch Nascar, and he really liked John Wayne and collected anything or watched anything John Wayne related. He loved riding bikes and would often take rides on the various bike paths throughout Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Edith and Jane Haskin; 2 brothers, John, and Marshall Mayfield.
Howard is survived by sisters, Martha (Gene) Noble; and Mary Mayfield; niece and nephews Amy (Jim) Honious; as well as numerous family and friends.
A memorial service in Howards honor will be held on Saturday November 8, 2025 at 12:30 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Road, Dayton, Ohio 45440.
