I am Wayne Maxwell, my Dad's first son.  My Dad, James Maxwell, was a great man to me and I was very proud to have been so fortunate to have had such a loving devoted caring father. 

My Dads genuine loving nature can be found from his down-home Tennessee upbringing, and as seen in relatives there,  people generally exhibited similar characteristics common to the Midwest and South.

My Dad was a hardworking factory worker and union member all his life, having a highly respectful work ethic not easily found today.  I am grateful to his contribution to America as a union member.  I recall during contract renewal negotiation times, when he had to tighten spending significantly when the union called for a strike to improve the standard of living for workers, and some strikes lasting for several weeks.  My Dad was concerned at times, yet comforted me that we would 'be alright, son'.  I firmly stand by the notion that my Dad as an American union worker helped to solidify Americas' middle class as the backbone of the American workforce, leading the way to wages and benefits that many of us receive and know today, even for me in the business world as an office worker, that are often taken for granted.  

And my Dad was a friend of many, who thoroughly enjoyed his competitive side playing te games of horseshoes, with his buddies and also with  long regular bicycle rides with several other buddies.  One of my most favorite childhood memories was riding in the basket of my fathers bike on the scenic backroads of the rural county where I grew up.  

My Dad was a loving provider for his family and it was easy to see his love for his wonderful wife Dorothy, to his kids and grandchildren, as our happiness was the most important thing to him above anything else.  I gained great personal strength from that and will have a lifelong appreciation instilled inside me.  

Thank you Dad.  I will miss you.

I was the wife of Jim Maxwell's oldest step-son. My late husband, Michael always called Jim the "salt of the earth" and thought the world of him; Jim stepped in when Mike was young and became a wonderful father-figure to him.

When Mike, our son Ethan and I would visit Jim and Dorothy, Jim's booming voice would always greet us and he would welcome us into his home, offer us food/drink and spend hours talking with us. He and Mike shared a love of cars - Mike told me about JIm's Thunderbird before I ever met the man! - and you would have had no idea that Mike was a "step-son"; Jim loved him like his own.

We will miss you, Jim...have a great time with Mike talking about cars!  Ethan and I will one day see you both again.  <3

I knew the day would come that I’d have to say one last “Bye Dad. I love you!” Of course, it came much sooner than I wanted it to.  I’ll miss our regular breakfast dates, cruising around town in the Thunderbird, his hugs and most of all, when he said “I love you, Darlin’” in that deep Tennessee drawl of his. As they say, it was his time but it’s so hard to accept it. I love you so much! A piece of my heart is with you. Keep it safe and sound till I see you next. “Bye Dad. I love you!”

My condolences go out to Aunt Dorothy, cousin Jim and all of Uncle 
Jim's family. Uncle Jim was the rare kind of person who could make 
everyone in his presence feel good. I always enjoyed talking to him and 
truly regret that my visits were too few. He was always honest and 
philosophical in his opinions about what was going on in relation to 
the world, near and far. He was a wonderful loving husband and 
father. He will be missed.

Grandpa Maxwell my heart is broken knowing I will never have a chance to see you again on this earth.  You were the best Grandpa anyone could ever ask for and I am so lucky to have been blessed to call you mine. Anyone who knew me well; knew I had and amazing Grandpa Maxwell.  I bragged about you often and introduced you to as many of my friends I could.  Lol I'm just remembering when I brought you into my workplace one day for a tour and I didn't even have to introduce you to half my co-workers because you would so proudly introduce yourself as "I'm her Grandpa." before I had a chance to say anything.  Thank you Grandpa for going above and beyond your call of duty by raising me as one of your own.  Without you and Granny... I can't imagine what kind if mess my life might be right now.  You are truly a Hero to many... but you are especially my Hero.  I love you Grandpa and will make sure Cadence knows how sweet and loving her Great-Great Grandpa Maxwell was.

Jim, I’m so glad we spoke yesterday! I didn’t get a chance to see my Uncle G often, but I have many fond memories of a sweet, gentle-spoken man with thick curly black hair! Our family visits to see Aunt Alba would always bring the family in to celebrate!!  I will dearly miss him!! My love and deepest sympathy to his loving family!! I’ll call soon Jim!! Love you & give Aunt Dorothy a kiss for me!!

I’m Aaron Glen Maxwell’s Australian daughter. I only met Uncle James twice and loved him and felt blessed to have known him for a short but very good time. My love, thoughts and prayers go to all his family.  Judi Maitland-Parr
