Jim was a very dear friend.  While my Aunt was ill I couldn't always be with her.  Jim knew her from his first day of kindergarten in her.  To when he became a teacher himself and the principal of the school she taught in.   Jim arranged with all her and his friends that someone was in her room 24/7. 
We have loss an amazing man and the heavens have gained an angel.   Jim please say hi to Elli and Jack.  Will miss you very much, dear friend!   Carol

It has taken me a few days to gather my thoughts,
I’ve heard it said that a man never stands taller than when he stoops to help a child.
Jim helped children while he was a teacher, a principal and a superintendent of schools.  He continued this through the rest of his life… almost every time he ate out in a public restaurant some man or woman would come up to him and say thank you for doing this for me, or I remember when this happened and how you encouraged me.
What a beautiful legacy.
As I knew Jim, he was generous, kind, gentle and dignified.
There are many things I could say, but the one that means the most to me, is that I counted him as a friend and he also counted me as a friend. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

So sad to hear of Mr. Oldfield’s passing. He was such a wonderful teacher and mentor during my junior high school years. He was always kind, composed, and professional. I will remember him with great fondness. Until we meet again….

The best teacher I ever had. Always caring and helpful. Taught me much, and not just academics. Carlisle Schools were blessed to have him.

So sad to loose Jim. 
He and I were kid of boyfriend/girlfriend as kids in the 8th grade.  Then came high school/ just in classes together.  Then after HS- he went his way and me mine.  A few years ago we got reconnected again/ I made Memorial Day flowers for his mom.
Then last year when I had a TKR he jumped in a befriended me and my husband.  He kept up with me like a brother.  Texting or calling daily.  Brought food to my house, went out to eat when I got able. 
It was very nice.  He had been a miracle with his leg shattered a few yrs ago and beat the doctors.  Only to fall again and loose his life.
I will miss him terribly

Friend, colleague, man of community. Always finding the best in others and teaching quiet lessons of love, respect, and caring, Jim leaves a legacy of grace and dignity as a human being. As superintendent Jim’s strength was recognizing and purposefully reminding his entire staff of their goodness and worthy contributions to their students, buildings, or responsibilities. Jim’s manner of leadership was always putting others above himself. Education was not simply a career to Jim, but a way of life lived well. 

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings.

And hold you in the palm of His hand.

Mr. Oldfield I am Very Sorry of Your Passing So Soon!!!!! 😂You were the Best Science Teacher I Ever Had in My Jr. High Years. Felt I received a Good Education from You. Thank You for All the Kindness. Truly had A Love for Your Students. So Proud of Susan that You had A 5x7 Photo on Your Desk. I can See Your Son Looks like His Mother and Heidi is Your Oldfield Child. Definitely appeared to Be a Proud Papaw. Never realized our  Children would Become Friends. May God Bless Your Family during this Trying Time. Cathy so sorry about your brother. I did get to meet him a few times at your performances.  He would always comment on my reels on fb, that he liked the song or where I was.  What a great career he had.  Wow. RIP to him.

Mr. Oldfield was one of my favorite teachers at Carlisle Jr High. He was a caring individual to all that knew him. He was by no means a “push over” though when it came to discipline as Asst Principle, But was a fair & compassionate one. His memory & selfless acts as an organ donor should be admired & an example for those who cared about him to follow. 
He was very good to me & my family at Carlisle as he was to many. My heart felt sympathy & prayers go out to his family at this difficult time. 
Though I feel safer knowing he’s “up there on my side” as I’m sure the good Lord has further plans for this good loving soul. 🙏🙏🙏💜

RIP brother Jimmy!  I'm sure going to miss our talks, texts, and lunches.

I am so sorry to learn of Jim Oldfield death. He was principal at the intermediate when my girls were there and I served as PTO president . He loved the kids and worked with parents to get the best education they could. He will be sadly missed.

Jim Oldfield was a good man. I send sincere condolences to all of Jim’s family, and all that loved Jim. May God rest his soul. Tom Ratliff

Our deepest sympathies to all his family.  Our children and grandchildren had Jim as principal and superintendent. He always was very helpful and really cared about his students. Every time we saw him out and about town, he would always want to catch up on what everyone was doing.   He gave his best to the students of Carlisle and will always be remembered.  Go rest high on that mountain Jim, your work on earth is done. Our sincere sympathies to his family and all who loved him. 🙏

Jim loved his family and friends.  He was always encouraging to everyone he met.  His passing will leave a void for sure.

Jim loved his grandson Milo.  Milo's first day at kindergarden.

Jim often said Larry was like a brother to him.

I count myself blessed for Jim to have been my good friend.  A couple  of his defining characteristics will always be his love for others and an undying generosity.  He will be fondly remembered and missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim‘s passing. We had so much fun together when we went to North Carolina and did the Mayberry show. He was always very encouraging and very unselfish with everything. He was my friend.
