Janet Collins, age 89 of Franklin, Ohio passed away Monday, June 29, 2026 at Otterbein Lebanon. She was born in Columbus, but lived most of her life in Franklin, Ohio with her husband Bill and her three sons. Janet enjoyed time with family and friends and loved playing card games as well as bingo. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren, joking around or teaching them her favorite card game- Hand and Foot. In addition to being alot of fun, Janet was also a great cook. Her whole family loved her cabbage rolls, her baked spaghetti and her cornbread casserole. These recipes will be cherished and passed down to new generations in the years to come. She was an avid crafter and blessed many with her handmade Christmas decorations, quilts and knitted dishcloths. When not at home in Ohio, she could be found in Florida enjoying the sunshine or on one of many road trips she and Bill enjoyed while exploring the United States in their RV. On these trips, she collected a variety of teapots, both traditional and whimsical, which she displayed around her home. Janet also served as a poll worker on the Warren County Board of Elections for 47 years. Whether travelling or in Franklin, Janet was known for helping people any way she could; where she saw a need, she found a way to take care of it. She brightened everyone's day through her love of the color red which she displayed through her clothing, decor and jewelry – a bright, bold color that emulated her bright, bold personality. We will all miss her smile, her sense of humor, the joking look she’d give to just you during a group conversation and the care she extended to those around her.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Robert Gansheimer; her brother Robert Gansheimer Jr., great-granddaughter Olive Viola Collins and her husband, Glenn William Collins. She is survived by her sons Steve (Marlene) Collins, Tim Collins and Tom Collins; grandchildren Keith (Ashley) Collins, Jackie (Curtis) Hubbard, Ian (Maria) Collins, Joel (Joy) Collins, and Lynne (Jon) Zavodney as well as 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 am on July 6, 2026 with service at 11 am at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 N. Main St., Springboro, Ohio 45066.
