
John V. Boggs, Jr., passed away on Thursday, July 23 in Franklin, Ohio at the age of 94 1/2. John was born in Dunmore, WV on November 13, 1920, to the late John V. Sr. and Bessie (Keyes) Boggs. John served in the U.S. Navy during WW-II, including a stint in Japan. After the war, he worked as a machinist on the railroad in Hinton, West Virginia for 8 years, then moved to Lucasville, Ohio, where he worked for Goodyear Atomic corporation for 10 years, and finally to Franklin, where he worked until 1982 at Monsanto Research in Miamisburg. John was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #55, F&AM, as well as the Scotish Rite, York Rite, and Shrine. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lois Lee (Ford) Boggs, who passed away in September, 2010; as well as 3 siblings. He is survived by a son, John V. (Linda) Boggs, III of Easley, SC; a daughter, Carol L. Carpenter of Franklin; grandson, Michael Boggs; granddaughter, Angela (Craig) Carter; brother, Clifton Boggs; sister, Allyne Chinault; two great-grandsons, Jeffrey Reedy, Adam South. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio. Funeral service will be July 29, 2015 at 10:00 am, also at the funeral home, with Reverend Vernon Risner officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park with military honors.
