
John F. Powers, age 80, of Middletown, passed away Sunday at the Butler-Warren Hospice. He was born in Kentucky, May 14, 1930, the son of Turner and Iva Powers. His career at Armco Steel lasted over 43 years; he also had owned the Plantation Fruit Market, and had a video booth at Turtle Creek Flea Market for the past 12 years. He had belonged to the Armco Coin Club, and the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Powers; daughter Becky Wolsefer, her daughter Megan Josifouski and grandchildren Matthew, Jack, and Jada; and son Josh Wolsefer and grandchildren Turner and Brooks; his son, John Powers, Jr. wife, Pam and his children Kelly, Samantha and Austin; daughter Geri Lowman husband, Andy and her children Jessica, Amy and Nicole; and daughter Jill Pheanis husband, Richard and children Chandler and Savannah. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Geri Ann Mark. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 11, at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shahne Stone officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until service time on Thursday. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Dayton.
