She often spoke of her childhood experience growing up on a farm in Waynesville, living in Xenia and Carlisle, Ohio. Janie lived out her final days in Miamisburg, where she was blessed to have very close friends and neighbors. She was a graduate of Carlisle High School, a mother of three children, and a grandmother of seven.
Janie loved her family dearly. Over the years, she most enjoyed spending time with her sisters, Kathy and Dennie Lea, and brother, Jeff, and all of the numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and her extended family and friends. In her earlier adult years, Janie enjoyed family game nights with her sisters, mother, and aunts; it was a regular occurrence that Janie would spend quality time with the "Smith Women," they were always together. Janie enjoyed the simple things in life, those that were most important: family, and friends, and home.
In her younger days as a parent, Janie enjoyed sewing, coaching baseball and t-ball teams for her oldest of three children. She enjoyed bowling and did so at Laynecrest Lanes in Franklin. She played on teams and in leagues for many years along with her mother, sisters, and family friends. Janie enjoyed volunteering and helping organize the Franklin Riverday’s Festival and parades. Janie held various positions of employment, but most enjoyed her time working at McAlpin’s, the Franklin Courthouse, and the Manchester Inn in Middletown. Janie absolutely loved helping plan weddings, reunions, and other events at the Manchester Inn. Janie also enjoyed the Ohio Balloon Festival held in Middletown, Ohio. Upon the birth of her third child, Dalena, Janie was given the opportunity to enjoy parenting, once again, filled with new experiences with the love of her youngest daughter who brought great joy to Janie and all those around her.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Denny and Marjorie Smith and her sisters, Deneane Eggleston and Kathy Day.
She is survived by her brother Jeff Smith and wife Debbie; her daughter Jenni Blake, husband Chester “George” Blake, and children Laura, Dillon, and Kaylie; her son Matthew Anderson, wife Angie and children Kayla and Ava; daughter, Dalena Green and partner, Codi Keith and children Silas and Grayson. Janie loved her family very much and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Janie most enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. They were her most precious gifts.
