Leon Lamar Wood

Leon Lamar Wood Sr., age 90, of Franklin, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at his residence. Leon was born in Lexie Wolfe, KY on August 3. 1933 to the late Leon Lamar and Lizzie Alice (Stricklin) Wood.

Leon was a graduate of Franklin High School class of 1951. Following high school he attended Perdue University and Indiana Tech then served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956. He was employed at AK Steel for 39 years and retired in 1992 as a supervisor in security.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Hazel F. (Hill) Wood and grandson, Joshua. Leon is survived by his children, Leon Lamar III (Carla) Wood, William "Scott" Wood, (Debbie), James Edward Wood, John Harold (Teri) Wood; eight grandchildren, Heather, Jeremee, Brandon, Stephanie, Kristen, Jonathon, Jared; four great grandchildren, Carson, James, Gabe, Daxton; a great great granddaughter, Rin; many step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Leon will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4930 Central Ave, Middletown, OH. Following by the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with Bishop Lucas Darby officiating.

Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery, 2348 Lower Springboro Rd, Springboro, OH. with military honors
