

Marvin D. Achtermann, age 80 of Canal Winchester, Ohio (formerly of Franklin, and Springboro) passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born in Franklin, Ohio on May 13, 1945 he was a son to the late Phillip "Ed" & Frances (Whitacre) Achtermann. He married the love of his life, Georgia Adkins on February 24, 1967 and they had two children Leslie & Andrew. Marvin was a graduate of Wilmington College, and proud escort of the "Homecoming Cow". In his younger years he was an avid skier, enjoyed coaching football, and even dabbled in being a pilot. Marvin was always taking pictures at family get togethers, preserving memories to be shared for many years to come. He will be deeply missed, and forever loved. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Roger & Phillip Achtermann and nephews Brian & Brad Pheanis.
Survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia Achtermann: daughter Leslie & Patrick Spires: Drew Achtermann: grandchildren Liz & Brooke Lawrence; Josie Spires & Macy Baker: great-granddaughter Violet Baker, and one great-grandson on the way: as well as many more extended family members and friends.
Friends may call on the family from 10:00- 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 Main St, Springboro, Ohio 45066. Funeral service to be held at 11 AM with Pastor Laura Saunders presiding. Burial to follow at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, Centerville, Ohio.
